Who can open a bank account in Cyprus?
The Central Bank of Cyprus permits Cypriot and non-Cypriots to open a bank account in Cyprus – however you will need to submit ID and other documents to prove that you are a resident of Cyprus or have a valid reason to open an account in Cyprus.
Opening a personal bank account in Cyprus
A personal bank account can be set up by residents of Cyprus.
It is straightforward to set up a personal bank account in Cyprus. In general accounts are opened in person and as well as completing and signing an application form you will be required to provide certain documents, these will include as a minimum:
- A valid passport and your resident card/document
- An Original utility bill which confirms your address – please bear in mind that the bill must not be older than 6 months
- Proof of the source of funds (such as an original pension statement or payslip)
